The designer made a stylish appearance in New York wearing a dress of her own creation.
While ‘Brat Summer’ may have come to an end, Charli XCX is here to assure fans that it will carry on into Brat Autumn and even Brat Winter—and so far, she’s succeeding. Just last week, the pop icon released Brat and It’s Completely Different but Also Still Brat, a remix album that reimagines tracks from her sixth studio album, featuring A-list collaborations with artists like Ariana Grande and Kesha. Now, the Brat aesthetic is making waves in high fashion, courtesy of Victoria Beckham.
The designer was spotted heading to an event in New York City this week, donning a striking electric green dress of her own design. One glance at the dress evokes thoughts of Charli’s culture-shifting album cover, but Beckham offers her own elevated interpretation of the bold hue.
This dress appears to be a modified version of one of Beckham’s most popular styles. It features a plunging neckline and rounded shoulders that transition into batwing sleeves with cinched hems. While the bodice is loose, the mermaid skirt clings to Beckham’s hips, flaring out at the bottom with delicate ruffles.
To complete her look, Beckham curated a vibrant watermelon color scheme with vermillion heels and accessorized with golden anklets that matched her delicate necklace. She topped off the ensemble with oversized sunglasses, adding a final touch of high-fashion flair.
Charli XCX has defined “Brat” as a term of endearment, describing someone who is a bit messy, enjoys partying, and may say some silly things, but is unapologetically honest and vibrant. The senior fashion editor adds that to dress like a brat is to embrace chaos and wear clothes meant for living—ideally involving dancing until dawn and perhaps a bit of lighthearted trouble.
While it’s hard to say if Beckham has ever felt quite that way, showing up in a dress she designed herself certainly seems wonderfully Brat to us.
